The Malta Competition and Consumer
Affairs Authority has been notified of a number of products which pose a
serious risk to consumers. The below details refer: Should your company retail, import or
distribute the product in question, you are requested to notify GRTU without
delays, so necessary action is taken as soon as possible. If you are aware of
any person or company who is retailing, importing or distributing this product,
kindly notify the undersigned so as to contact such person or company.
Misleading company directories: SMEs welcome EC action - The European Commission issued a communication on misleading marketing practices. After years of insistence by UEAPME and its members, the organisation welcomed the initiative taken by the EC. The text suggests a series of measures against misleading company directories, i.e. fraud cases where small companies are invited by a business directory to update their contact details under the false impression that they will be listed free of charge, only to discover later that they have unintentionally signed up to a paid contract.

The Council has adopted a decision
closing the excessive deficit procedures for Malta, confirming that it has
reduced its deficit below 3% of GDP, the EU's reference value for government
deficits. The decision abrogates the decision that
the Council took in July 2009 on the existence of an excessive deficit in Malta
after its general government deficit reached 4.7% of GDP in 2008.

The charging time for controlled access into Valletta in
December shall be from 8am to 4.30pm
Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays
charging times will remain from 8am
till 1pm while on Sundays and public holidays access into Valletta will remain free.
